Metro Pillar Work Prompts Traffic Changes at Pune University Chowk

Pune: In response to the ongoing construction work on the Metro Pillar at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk, the Deputy Commissioner of Pune City Traffic Branch, Shashikant Borate, has implemented traffic directives on an experimental basis. The goal is to effectively manage the increased congestion and ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic in the area.

Traffic Changes Implemented:

1. Closure of Right Turn and U-Turn: The right turn and U-turn options for vehicles coming from SB Road and Ganeshkhind Road heading to the university from the main entrance of Savitribai Phule Pune University at Pune University Chowk will be closed.

Alternative Route: Vehicles are advised to take a right turn from the Millennium Gate in front of Chaturshringi Police Station and proceed to their destination at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

2. Restrictions for Vehicles from Baner and Aundh Roads: Vehicles coming from Baner and Aundh roads will be blocked from entering the university through the main entrance at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Alternative Routes:

  1. Vehicles from Aundh Road should enter through Millennium Gate to reach Savitribai Phule Pune University.
  2. Vehicles on Baner Road should take a left turn from Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk and enter through Millennium Gate on Aundh Road.

Public Feedback Period: Citizens are encouraged to provide suggestions or objections regarding these changes in writing to the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Control Branch, Yerwada Post Office, Bungalow No. 6 Jail Road Pune 41006. The feedback period is from 17th February 2024 to 2nd March 2024.

Final Consideration: Final orders will be issued after careful consideration of the citizens’ input, taking into account any suggested modifications. Essential services vehicles (e.g., fire brigade, police vehicles, ambulances, etc.) will be exempted from these changes.
