Members of Mathadi Association Arrested for Threatening and Extorting Money from Businessmen in Pimpri Chinchwad

In a significant development, the police have apprehended five individuals associated with the Mathadi Workers Association of Pimpri Chinchwad for their involvement in threatening and extorting money from businessmen and their employees in the city. Two separate cases have been registered with the Pimpri Chinchwad Police in connection with these incidents.

According to the police, the accused individuals, including Ramakant alias Bablu Jogdand (30), the president of the Mathadi Transport Security Guards Association of Pimpri Chinchwad, assaulted members of a company for recruiting people without his permission. Along with his accomplices, they forcefully took away a gold ring and cash from the victims. The victims were conducting promotional activities for the company in the area when they were attacked.

Four accused, namely Ramakant alias Bablu Jogdand (30), Samir alias Bablu Nazir Shaikh (33), Mayur Balasaheb Sarode (23), and Karan Sadafal Chavan (24), have been arrested in connection with the case registered at Wakad Police Station. The accused have been remanded to police custody until July 11 by the local court.

In another case reported in Kalewadi, the police have arrested Suresh Baburao Bansode (37), the city secretary of the Mathadi General Workers Union Transport Association of Pimpri Chinchwad. Bansode is alleged to have damaged a vehicle and threatened the drivers for transporting materials from the area without consulting him. He demanded an extortion amount of Rs 10,000 for allowing the transport of vehicles and forcibly took cash from the truck driver.

A case has been registered against the accused at Wakad Police Station under the relevant sections of the law.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Police have urged businessmen to report any incidents involving individuals who demand extortion or make threats. Citizens can lodge their complaints with the police through the helpline number 020-27352500 or 112. They can also visit the nearby police station to file their complaints.
