Maratha Quota Activist Manoj Jarange Faces FIR for Illegal Rally in Pune

Pune city police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against prominent Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange and several others for conducting an illegal rally in the Wagholi area on January 23 this year.

The Lonikand police booked Jarange-Patil, along with individuals such as Ganesh Mhaske, Sandeep Kambilkar, Shekhar Patil, and eight to ten others, for organizing an unauthorized rally at Choki Dani Road.

According to the police, Jarange-Patil, en route to Mumbai, made a stop at Wagholi and conducted the rally without obtaining police permission, around 4 am. Police naik Ritesh Kale filed a complaint regarding the incident.

Senior Police Inspector Kailas Kare at the Lonikand police station stated, “On their way to Mumbai, Jarange-Patil and others organized a rally at around 4 am without police permission. They also used a loudspeaker; hence, we have booked them under relevant sections.”

The case has been registered at Lonikand police station under sections 37 (1) (3), 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, and section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
