Maratha Kranti Morcha’s Pune Protest: Solidarity with Jalna’s Ongoing Reservation Movement

In a show of unwavering support for the ongoing struggle for Maratha community reservation in Jalna, the leaders of Maratha Kranti Morcha have announced a symbolic protest to be held in Pune. This proclamation was officially made during a press conference held in the city on Wednesday.

The protest is scheduled to take place at Mahatma Phule Mandai in Pune, running from 10 am to 5 pm on Thursday. Key figures attending the press conference included Rajendra Kondhare, Rajendra Kunjir, Sachin Adekar, Prashant Dhumal, and Tushar Kakade, all of whom played active roles in previous protests advocating for Maratha community reservation in Maharashtra.

According to Rajendra Kondhare, one of the leaders present at the conference, the Supreme Court’s directives mandate a periodic review of reservations, apart from those enshrined in the constitution, every ten years. He emphasized the importance of implementing this directive, ensuring that no community in need of reservation is denied its rightful share. Kondhare asserted that the Maratha community should be included in the OBC category, fulfilling the demands originally presented by Manoj Jarange during his protest in Jalna.

The leaders of Maratha Kranti Morcha acknowledged that there were discussions about calling for a bandh (a general strike) as part of their protest. However, a consensus was reached against this course of action, as it was deemed potentially detrimental to traders in the lead-up to the festive season.
