Maratha Community Amplifies Demands with Hadapsar Rasta Roko Protest

In a resolute move to draw attention to the pressing issues faced by the Maratha community, Manoj Jarange Patil, a prominent advocate for their rights, orchestrated a Rasta Roko demonstration at Manjari Phata Chowk in Hadapsar. The event, organized under the banner of Sakal Maratha Samaj in Hadapsar, not only caused significant traffic disruption but also served as a powerful expression of the community’s discontent.

At the core of the protest is the perceived inadequacy of the ten percent reservation granted by the Maharashtra state government, leading to feelings of betrayal among the Maratha community. Simultaneously, hunger strikes in Antarwali Sarati intensified, demanding Maratha inclusion in the OBC category and the enactment of Sage Soyare into law. In response, Jarange Patil called for widespread Rasta Roko protests across Maharashtra, seeking to amplify their collective demands.

The demonstration at Manjari Phata Chowk, Vitthal Nagar, stood as a symbol of unified resistance, representing the shared aspirations of the Maratha community in Hadapsar. Women from the community, in particular, actively voiced their concerns to the Hadapsar Police, emphasizing the depth of their grievances.

Importantly, the Rasta Roko protest saw broad participation, with doctors, lawyers, and educated youths joining the cause, highlighting the widespread support for the community’s demands. Despite the disruption, organizers ensured the safety of essential services, allowing the unimpeded passage of ambulances and emergency vehicles. Additionally, they prioritized the protection of school and college students, reaffirming their commitment to a peaceful and responsible protest.
