Pune, August 4th, 2023: The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team of Maharashtra has unveiled the photograph of Mohammad Shahnawaz Shafiurrehman Alam, a wanted accused who is currently on the run in connection with a case involving terror suspects apprehended in Pune. This development comes in the aftermath of the accused managing to evade authorities during the arrest of two other individuals connected to the case in Pune’s Kothrud area on July 18.
The ATS officials had taken into custody Mohammad Imran Mohammad Yunus Khan and Mohammad Yunus Mohammad Yakub Saki from Kothrud, Pune. It was disclosed that both these individuals were among the ‘Most Wanted’ list of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a case registered in Rajasthan. Subsequent investigations unraveled that the arrested suspects had been plotting bomb blasts and had conducted tests in the forests of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur. Furthermore, caches of explosive materials were discovered at their residence in Kondhwa.
Shahnawaz, who was present with the arrested suspects at the time of their detention, managed to evade capture as they were being transported for a house search. The case was subsequently transferred to the ATS, which has since formed dedicated teams to track down the absconding accused.
