The Mahindra Thar currently holds the record for the lengthiest waiting period among off-roading and SUV segments. The rear-wheel-drive variant, particularly the hardtop diesel version, is the most sought-after in the Indian market.
As of now, the waiting period for the Mahindra Thar stands at a whopping 70 weeks for its rear-wheel-drive hardtop diesel variant. In contrast, the petrol variant comes with a relatively shorter waiting period of 22 weeks. Opting for the four-wheel-drive variant with its soft top reduces the waiting time to 24 weeks.
The demand for the Mahindra Thar continues to surge in the Indian market, coinciding with a steady increase in its price. In August 2023, the Thar witnessed a staggering 68,000 units booked through open orders, reflecting the sustained popularity of this off-road powerhouse.
