Loan App Extortion Case in Pune: Woman Coerced into Paying Over 1 Lakh Rupees After Borrowing 3,000 Rupees

    Camp, June 28, 2023: A young woman’s decision to borrow a small sum of three thousand rupees through a loan app turned into a harrowing ordeal as she was subjected to extortion. Shockingly, it has come to light that the woman was coerced into paying a staggering amount of one lakh eleven thousand rupees under the threat of defamation. Promptly responding to the incident, the Pune City Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

    The victim, a young woman in urgent need of three thousand rupees, resorted to borrowing the amount through a loan app on her mobile device. As expected, the requested sum was swiftly credited to her account. However, her relief was short-lived when she received a call from an unknown individual who unleashed a series of threats against her. The perpetrator, aiming to instill fear and control, threatened to defame her by spreading explicit messages and photographs.

    Over time, the accused managed to exploit the victim’s vulnerability and extracted a total of one lakh eleven thousand rupees through repeated coercive demands. Fearing the consequences and under immense pressure, the terrified woman complied with the extortionist’s demands. Eventually, she sought help and filed a formal complaint at the Lashkar police station.

    Inspector Priyanka Shelke has been assigned to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to justice. The Pune City Police are determined to ensure the safety and well-being of the victim while taking swift action against those responsible for this heinous act of extortion. Such cases serve as a reminder of the need for vigilance and caution when engaging with loan apps or any online financial transactions. It is crucial for individuals to be aware of potential risks and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
