Lights, Camera, Clean Diwali: PCMC Launches Swachh Bharat Abhiyan-Shubh Diwali Video Competition

The Maharashtra Urban Development Mission Directorate has announced the launch of the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan-Shubh Diwali” campaign under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Nagri 2.0 in Pimpri Chinchwad city. In line with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ directives, a competition has been initiated, inviting citizens to create a 30-second short video or reel promoting a pollution-free and environmentally friendly Diwali celebration.

Competition Details:

  1. Eligibility: Open to all citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
  2. Certificates: All participants will receive certificates for their contribution.
  3. Prizes: Cash prizes totaling Rs. 22,000 for first, second, and third prize winners.
    • First Place: 10 prizes of Rs. 1,000 each
    • Second Place: 10 prizes of Rs. 700 each
    • Third Place: 10 prizes of Rs. 500 each
  4. Criteria for the Competition:
    • Use of flower rangoli.
    • Donation of unusable material at RRR Centre.
    • Avoidance of single-use plastic.
    • Use of eco-friendly materials during Diwali celebrations.
    • Giving eco-friendly materials as Diwali gifts without single-use plastic.
    • Celebrating a pollution-free Diwali.
    • Plastic-free shopping.
    • Use of sky lanterns made from eco-friendly materials.
    • Creating sustainable goods from waste.
  5. Contest Terms and Conditions:
    • No age requirement.
    • Contestants must be residents of Pimpri Chinchwad city.
    • Creativity is a key criterion for short video/reel submissions.
    • Mandatory posting of the video on social media using the hashtag #SwachhDiwali and tagging @sbmurbangov and @pcmcindiagovin on Twitter and Instagram.
    • Submission Deadline: November 15, 2023, 5:00 PM, to [email protected].

The competition aims to encourage responsible Diwali celebrations, emphasizing cleanliness, sustainability, and the avoidance of single-use plastic. This initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, promoting a cleaner and healthier environment during the festive season.

Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange of the Health Department has urged citizens to actively participate in the competition, contributing to the success of the Swachh Diwali-Shubh Diwali campaign.
