Last Chance: Pune Residents Urged to Secure 40% Property Tax Rebate Before November 15

As the clock ticks down to the November 15 deadline, Pune residents are being reminded to seize the opportunity to avail of a generous 40 percent property tax rebate. The municipal administration had anticipated applications from approximately 2,64,000 residents for the tax relief, but so far, only 50,000 have applied over the past five months.

The Property Tax Rebate: An Essential Reminder

The property tax exemption, which had been in effect since 1970, faced withdrawal by the Maharashtra state government. In the initial phase, 97,000 properties were included, and owners were directed to pay a concessional amount at 40 percent for the three-year period from 2019 to 2022.

Additionally, starting in 2019, the exemption for newly registered properties was rescinded, leading to heightened grievances among citizens, prompting the government to reinstate the 40 percent discount for Pune residents.

How to Avail the Rebate: Deadline and Procedure

Property owners who have received bills for the three-year difference from 2019 to 2022 and new tenants charged 100 percent of the bill from 2019 must submit their applications by November 15 to avail the 40 percent discount and transfer the amount paid to the Municipal Corporation.

Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Property Tax Department, Ajit Deshmukh, has issued an appeal for citizens to adhere to the stipulated timeframe, emphasizing that those who miss the deadline will forfeit the discount.

Documents Required for Application

  • PT-3 Application: Mandatory submission of the ‘PT-3’ application, accompanied by proof of residence in the property.
  • Proof of Residence: Acceptable documents include Voter ID Card, Passport, Driving License, Gas Card, Ration Card, etc.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): An NOC from the society confirming that the property is being utilized for self-maintenance.

Submission Locations and Multiple Properties

Applications can be submitted at the nearest Regional Office, Head Office, Civic Facility Center, or Peth Inspector, Divisional Inspector. PT-3 application forms are available at municipal offices and can be accessed online at propertytax.punecorporation.org.

For citizens who own multiple properties, the 40 percent discount is applicable, ensuring relief on their single income. The deadline for submitting applications is November 15, and residents are urged to take advantage of this limited window to benefit from the substantial property tax rebate.
