Last Call: Pune Citizens Urged to File Voter Claims and Objections by December 9

The District Election Administration in Pune is calling on citizens to take action by submitting voter claims and objections before the December 9 deadline, as it marks the final date to register as voters.

According to the information provided, the draft electoral roll will be accessible starting October 27.

Under the guidance of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a special brief revision program for photo electoral rolls has been initiated, with an eligibility date of January 1, 2024. As part of this program, the draft list will be unveiled on October 27, allowing concerned individuals to file their claims and objections with the voter registration officer. Decisions on these claims and objections will be finalized by December 26, 2023, and the official voter list will be published on January 5, 2024.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Voter Registration Officer, and polling station notice board will display a list of claims and objections, with a proposal to remove the names of deceased voters from the list. After individual written notifications to voters and political parties, a decision on these claims and objections will be made at least seven days later.

To register as a voter, individuals should complete Form no. 6 and provide proof of residence, such as an electricity bill, water bill, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, Indian passport, registered sale certificate, registered lease agreement. Proof of age, like a birth certificate, Aadhaar card, or a 10th or 12th-grade passing certificate from the State Board of Education, should also be submitted.

To remove a deceased person’s name from the electoral roll, complete Form 7 and attach the necessary documents, including a death certificate, electricity bill, water bill, Aadhaar card, bank or post passbook, Indian passport, registered sale deed, registered lease agreement, etc.

For changes to the voter list, provide Form number 8 along with supporting documents, which may include electricity bills, water bill receipts, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, passport, registered sale deed, registered lease agreement, and valid proof of age, such as an Aadhaar card, 10th or 12th-grade pass certificate from the state education board, or a passport.
