Inaugurated by politician and social activist Sunny Vinayak Nimhan, the 37th Pune International Marathon commenced at 3:30 am, emphasizing its commitment to reducing the impact on daily traffic routines. This strategic timing adjustment aimed to enhance the overall experience for both participants and spectators.

The marathon’s traditional route, covering 42.195 kilometers for the full marathon and 21.0975 kilometers for the half marathon, weaved through Pune’s historic locations, offering a scenic backdrop to the runners. The event, which began in 1983 as a fun and fitness run, has evolved into a prestigious international sporting fixture.

The diverse races, including 10 km and 5 km events, were open to men and women, fostering inclusivity and a sense of community.

The Pune International Marathon adhered to global standards, following the regulations of “World Athletics” and guidelines set by the Athletics Federation of India, New Delhi.
