Kalewadi Phata Tragedy: Biker’s Death Prompts Renewed Vigilance Against Drunk Driving

Rahatani: A fatal incident occurred on March 3, 2023, on the Kalewadi Phata Flyover Bridge in Rahatani, resulting in the untimely death of a 23-year-old biker, identified as Akash Tanaji Kumbhar. The accident, attributed to careless driving under the influence of alcohol, unfolded due to a collision with a rock on the side of the road.

The tragic incident took place on the Kalewadi Phata Flyover Bridge, where Akash Kumbhar, a resident of Kalewadi, was riding his bike under the influence of alcohol. Witnesses recount that he was traveling at high speed when his bike collided with a rock situated on the side of the road on the bridge.

The case has been officially registered on January 15, 2024, at the Wakad Police Station. Police Sub-Inspector Avadhoot Shingare has filed a complaint regarding the accident, identifying the deceased as Akash Tanaji Kumbhar, aged 23.

Wakad police are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that the collision resulted from Kumbhar’s reckless driving under the influence of alcohol. The ongoing investigation aims to gather further details to ascertain the sequence of events leading to this tragic incident.
