Irrigation Boost: Khadakwasla Project to Supply Water to Mutha Canal

In a significant decision made during a meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, it has been determined that a fresh allocation of water will be released from the Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha canal starting October 25. This resolution was reached during the Canal Advisory Committee meeting held in the city on Friday.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawar underscored the vital importance of ensuring an ample water supply for irrigation purposes. He urged the Pune Municipal Corporation to take proactive measures to address water scarcity issues within the city while emphasizing the need to prevent water wastage.

The meeting also delved into various concerns related to water supply in rural areas of the district. Regarding the Pavana and Chaskaman projects, which currently maintain a substantial water reserve of 100%, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar received information from the irrigation department confirming that the water supply situation in the district is well under control. The surplus water availability in these projects assures uninterrupted water management, including irrigation and distribution, in the foreseeable future. Additionally, it was noted that the Khadakwasla project is presently maintaining a 95% water supply, providing reassurance for regional water supply stability.
