Iron Structure Collapses at Pune Metro’s Yerwada Station: No Injuries Reported

A distressing incident unfolded on August 10, around 8 PM, as a section of the iron structure at a Pune Metro Station collapsed in the Yerwada area. Fortunately, there were no casualties as a passing four-wheeler narrowly escaped the falling debris. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of ongoing station construction in Yerwada and has prompted calls for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent future mishaps.

The Pune Metro’s Yerwada Station collapse could have resulted in tragedy had it occurred when citizens were present in the vicinity. Hemant Sonawane, the Executive Director of Administration and Public Relations, provided insights into the incident. He stated, “The incident took place at 8:10 PM at Grid No 05 of Yerwada Metro Station’s left-hand side. A 90-degree CI bend suddenly fell onto a passing car, damaging its front glass. The CI bend fell from a height of more than 15 meters. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and a compensation of Rs 20,000 has been provided to the car owner.”

As the investigation unfolds, officials are rigorously assessing the extent of the damage caused by the collapse. Stringent security measures have been implemented at the affected site to prevent any further hazards. The ongoing construction activities at Yerwada’s Maha Metro station are being closely scrutinized.
