In preparation for the upcoming Palkhi processions of Jagatguru Sant Tukaram and Santshreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj heading towards Pandharpur, Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has announced designated Dry Days in the areas through which the processions will pass.
Schedule of Palkhi Processions
Jagatguru Sant Tukaram’s Palkhi will commence from Dehu Gaon on June 28th, with overnight halts at Inamdar Saheb Wada. The procession will proceed towards Pimpri Chinchwad on June 29th, marking a Dry Day in the Dehu Gaon area.
The subsequent halts include Vitthal Mandir in Akurdi on June 29th and 30th, leading to Dry Days under the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Akurdi Ward Office.
Continuing towards Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area, the Palkhi will halt at Shri Nivdunga Vitthal Mandir in Nana Peth on June 30th and July 1st, resulting in Dry Days in the Nana Peth Ward jurisdiction.
Implementation of Dry Days
The declaration extends to subsequent stops at Loni Kalbhor, Yawat, Varvand, Undawadi, Baramati, Sansar, Anthurne, Nimgaon Ketki, Indapur, and Sarati, aligning Dry Days with the Palkhi’s schedule in each respective area.
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi will set off from Alandi on June 29th, observing Dry Days in the Alandi Municipal Council area on June 29th and 30th. The journey continues with halts at Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Bhawani Peth, Pune on June 30th and July 1st, affecting Dry Days in the Bhawani Peth Ward area.
Enforcement Measures
To ensure compliance with the Dry Day regulations, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad police have been directed to monitor and restrict gatherings at locations where illegal activities might occur during the processions.
