IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Pune: Heavy Rainfall Expected Over the Next Three Days

After an extended dry period, Pune and several other districts in Maharashtra are poised to receive much-needed rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Pune district, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall in the ghat areas of the district over the next three days.

According to the IMD forecast, “Heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas” is anticipated in Pune on September 5, 6, and 7. This news comes as a relief to the residents of Pune, as the region has experienced a prolonged absence of substantial rainfall, causing concern among farmers about their crops. Additionally, the water levels in dams that supply water to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad have been lower compared to the storage recorded on the same date last year.

In addition to Pune, the IMD has also issued a yellow alert for various other districts in Maharashtra for the same three-day period. These districts include Kolhapur, Satara, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurga, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal.

The yellow alert serves as a cautionary measure, prompting residents to stay prepared for heavy rainfall and potential weather-related disruptions during this period.
