IMD Issues Orange Alert for Pune for Next Three Days

Pune, 4th July 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Pune district, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in the district over the next three days. According to IMD, the Pune district is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in ghat areas on July 5 and 6.

Furthermore, IMD predicts extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas on July 7. Considering the forecast, experts have advised tourists to avoid visiting ghat areas on July 6 and 7. A yellow alert has been issued for Pune on July 4.

“Rainfall activity is expected to increase gradually over Maharashtra in the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for isolated very heavy to extreme heavy rain over Konkan and ghats of Madhya Maharashtra, and a yellow alert for isolated heavy to very heavy rain over the rest of the state,” stated Anupam Kashyapi, the head of the Forecast Department at IMD Pune.

The Orange Alert signifies the potential for significant rainfall and advises residents and authorities to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions. Heavy rainfall can lead to waterlogging, floods, and disruption of daily activities. The IMD’s alerts serve as an important tool to inform and prepare the public for adverse weather conditions.
