IAF Launches Search for Detached Sukhoi Fighter Jet Part in Pune, Leopard Concerns Halt Operation

Pune, 18th October 2023: In a remarkable operation, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is conducting a search for a substantial metal part that disconnected from a Sukhoi fighter jet during a practice session. The incident, which took place on the 17th of October around noon, occurred in the Ganjewadi area of Kavthe Yemai village in the Shirur Taluka.

Immediate Search Operation Initiated

Following the detachment of the aircraft component, an IAF team joined forces with the local police to initiate a prompt search operation, aiming to locate the fallen part. The search party was led by Police Inspector Sanjay Jagtap of the Shirur Police Station, with the valuable assistance of Police Sub-Inspector Amol Panhalkar and Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Ugle.

Leopard Concerns Temporarily Halt Operation

Despite their concerted efforts, the search operation was temporarily halted due to growing concerns about the approaching darkness and the possibility of leopard activity in the region. Community Participation and Social Media Impact

This incident quickly gained attention on social media platforms, prompting local residents to converge on the site and actively engage in the search operation. Their involvement has added a community-driven dimension to the search and reflects the shared responsibility in addressing such matters.

Efforts to Gather Additional Information

As of the time of this report, attempts to contact the Indian Air Force for further information about the incident have proven unsuccessful. The situation remains dynamic, and updates are expected as the search operation progresses.
