Hinjewadi’s IT Transformation: Sharad Pawar’s Vision of England and America in India

In a recent event at Shree Jain Vidya Prasarak Mandal in Chinchwad, NCP President Sharad Pawar hailed the incredible transformation of Hinjewadi, a place initially intended for a sugar factory but now a thriving IT park. Pawar drew parallels between the evolution of the city and the essence of England and America. The event witnessed the presence of notable figures, including MP Srirang Barane, Srinivas Patil, former mayor Azam Pansare, and former corporator Bhausaheb Bhoir.

Sharad Pawar fondly reminisced about the inception of the IT Park, stating, “In Hinjewadi, people wanted to build a sugar factory. I performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the factory and said in the speech that there would be no factory here. Instead, another place was designated for the sugar factory, and Hinjewadi was transformed into an IT hub. Today, when you visit Hinjewadi, it feels like you’ve stepped into England or America. One lakh people are working there.”

The NCP President shed light on the transformation of Pimpri-Chinchwad, which has transitioned from an industrial town, renowned for companies like Telco and Bajaj, to a flourishing IT hub with a global presence. “Once Pimpri-Chinchwad was an industrial town. Telco and Bajaj companies were doing very well. Now it has become an IT hub after industrial and educational development,” Pawar emphasized.

Pawar also acknowledged the significant role played by educational institutions in facilitating the city’s remarkable transformation, laying the foundation for its rapid growth. He highlighted the city’s impressive export figures, boasting an annual export value of 11 thousand crores, underlining its growing significance in the global IT landscape.

The journey of Hinjewadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad has been nothing short of extraordinary, showcasing the region’s dynamism and adaptability as it transitions from its industrial past into a future where information and technology reign supreme.
