In a recent development that highlights the prevalence of cyber fraud, the Hinjewadi police have embarked on an investigation into a case involving a significant financial scam, which was facilitated through the Telegram app. The victim, lured by the promise of a lucrative part-time opportunity within the international hotel business, fell prey to the cunning tactics of an unidentified individual.
The fraudulent scheme, seemingly offering a chance to engage in tasks ranging from hotel bookings and registrations to sales, along with the allure of impressive returns on investment, initially caught the victim’s attention. The victim, intrigued by the prospects presented, began transferring funds as instructed by a female suspect who provided an account for these transactions. At the onset, the victim received commissions as promised, instilling a sense of confidence in the legitimacy of the arrangement.
As the victim continued to participate in the scheme, frequently transferring funds, a sudden cessation of communication with the accused was followed by a distressing realization – they had fallen victim to a meticulously crafted scam. The outcome was a devastating loss of Rs 11,84,181.
Taking immediate action, the victim swiftly lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Hinjewadi police station, invoking relevant sections 420 and 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that pertain to fraud and criminal breach of trust, respectively.
In response to the incident, the Hinjewadi police have initiated a rigorous investigation into the fraudulent activity. The authorities are committed to delving into the intricate details of the deceptive scheme, with an unwavering focus on identifying and apprehending the individuals responsible.
