In a distressing incident, a gas tanker transporting Ethylene Oxide overturned on Pune Ahmednagar Road near Vadgaon Sheri in the early hours of today.
The mishap occurred at approximately 12:47 AM, prompting a rapid response from emergency services. Eight fire tenders, mobilized by both the Pune Municipal Corporation and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, were deployed to the scene to prevent any potential major catastrophe.
Officials from the PMC Fire department reached out to Reliance Petrochemicals for assistance, emphasizing the collaborative effort to handle the situation effectively. In the interim, water was sprayed on the overturned tanker to mitigate the spread of the gas and reduce potential hazards.
To ensure the safety of residents in the vicinity, local traffic police took charge of managing the traffic flow, while the police closed off the affected area.
