In a devastating incident that unfolded at the Phoenix Mall of the Millennium in Wakad on the evening of October 17, a young labourer lost his life in a tragic accident. This unfortunate event transpired when marble slabs tumbled from a tempo, resulting in fatal injuries to the laborer.
The victim, identified as 23-year-old Sunil Shankar Jadhav, was a resident of Matoji Nagar, Balewadi, Pune. Sunil had been diligently working at the mall when the accident occurred, leaving his family and community in mourning. In the aftermath of the incident, Sunil’s father, 45-year-old Shankar Sangram Jadhav, filed a complaint with the Wakad police station, seeking justice for his son.
A case has been registered against the tempo driver, Bapurao Bharat Phad, who was responsible for the vehicle at the time of the accident. Sunil was actively involved in his laborer duties, which primarily entailed unloading marble slabs from the tempo stationed at Phoenix Mall of the Millennium Wakad on that fateful Tuesday evening.
The tragic turn of events occurred when tempo driver Bapurao Phad abruptly reversed the vehicle, leading to a catastrophic incident in which a heavy marble slab dislodged and fell onto Sunil. The laborer sustained grievous injuries and was swiftly transported to a private hospital for immediate medical intervention. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Sunil succumbed to his injuries.
