Gudi Padwa Festivities Shine Bright Despite Soaring Gold Prices

Pune Witnesses Robust Demand for Gold on Auspicious Occasion

Despite record-high gold rates reaching between ₹72,000 to ₹74,000 for 1 tola (10gm) in Pune, the festive spirit of Gudi Padwa remained undimmed as the city saw a surge of buyers flocking to jewellery shops on Monday.

Shailesh Kshirsagar, echoing a sentiment shared by many, emphasized the tradition of purchasing gold on Gudi Padwa and proudly recounted buying 2 grams of the precious metal from a trusted jeweller on Laxmi Road.

Similarly, Neha Kale expressed joy in fulfilling a pre-planned purchase of four gold bangles weighing 400 grams, symbolizing prosperity and marking the onset of the new year and harvest season in Maharashtra.

Saurabh Gadgil, the chairman and managing director of PNG Jewellers, hailed the overwhelming response from customers, noting a robust demand for gold, silver, and diamond jewellery. Despite the steep prices, buyers remained undeterred, reflecting a bullish sentiment prevailing during the festivities.
