Akash Nakhare, Aditya Garg, Avinash Deoskar, and Jaanya Bisnoi emerged as the most sought-after players during the Players Auction Day for The Poona Club Golf League 2024. The prestigious golfing event is scheduled to unfold at the Poona Club Golf Course starting from January 20, 2024.
In a joint statement issued by Poona Club President Sunil Handa, Vice President Gaurav Gadhoke, Golf Course Captain Ikram Khan, and PGL 2024 Chairman Indraneel Mujgule, it was revealed that 16 teams will fiercely compete in this year’s league.
The auction saw 316 players vying for a spot in the tournament, with team owners engaging in a spirited bidding war across three divisions – Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each team had a notional amount of Rs. 2 crores to spend, resulting in a competitive draft process that shaped the rosters for the league. The Gold division alone witnessed over 90 players finding their teams, and a total of 240 players were eventually drafted by the 16 participating teams.
