Garbage Menace on Pune Railway Tracks: Authorities Urge Residents to Cease Dumping

Authorities in Pune are urging residents to halt the dumping of household garbage on the railway track between Ghorpadi and Saswad Railway Station areas near Pune Railway station of Pune Division. This concerning practice has been consistently observed and poses multiple threats, including potential accidents and fire hazards.

Key areas identified as hotspots for garbage dumping include Mohammed Wadi near Railway gate No. 7, Sasane Nagar, Ramtekdi, Sasane Nagar Fortune Plaza, Vardhaman Township Society, and Sayyad Nagar. The indiscriminate disposal of waste on the railway tracks not only attracts cattle, leading to potential accidents and derailments but also poses a severe fire hazard, endangering passing trains, oil tankers, coal loads, and passenger-carrying trains.

The authorities have issued a stern warning, advising the general public to refrain from throwing garbage near the railway tracks. In response to this notice, locations identified for garbage dumping and nearby residents will face prosecution under the relevant provisions of the Railway Act.

Residents in the specified areas, including Mohammed Wadi, Sasane Nagar, Ramtekdi, Sasane Nagar Fortune Plaza, Vardhaman Township Society, and Sayyad Nagar, are strongly urged to cease the practice of dumping household items on railway tracks. Failure to comply may result in legal actions being taken against those involved.
