PUNE: There is no special muhurat for the consecration of Ganesh idol and performing puja on Ganesh Chaturthi (September 19, Tuesday). Mohan Date of Date Panchang (almanac) said that the consecration of the idol of Shri Ganesh can be done from 4.50 am to 1.50 pm.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the Chaturthi of Shukla paksha in the month of Bhadrapad (Hindu calendar). On this day, the puja can be performed from early morning till the afternoon. There is no rule that the idol should be brought home a day earlier or on Ganesh Chaturthi, Date said.
Ganesh Chaturthi is on Tuesday in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu etc. On Monday, the Tritiya will end at 12.40 pm and the Chaturthi will end at 1.45 pm on Tuesday.
