Fraudulent Voter Registration Attempt Exposed in Pune; FIR Lodged Against Perpetrators

In a significant development, a case has been registered at Paud Police Station, Pune rural police, against individuals attempting to register voters using fraudulent documents within Mulshi Tehsil Office. The incident came to light under the special brief revision program for the Bhor constituency, raising concerns about the integrity of the voter registration process.

Key Details:

  1. False Applications Detected: A considerable number of voter registration applications were submitted online under the special revision program for the Bhor constituency at Mukaiwadi, Pirangut in Mulshi (Application No. 6).
  2. Fraudulent Documents: The submitted applications included electricity bills as proof of residence. However, suspicions were aroused when inconsistencies were identified between the names and addresses on these bills.
  3. Verification Process: Upon verification on the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) website, it was confirmed that the provided bills contained inaccurate information.
  4. FIR Registered: A case has been registered against Vijay Marne, Amit Shinde, Bhausaheb Mokar, Shakeel Ahmed, and Mohammed Alam for submitting false electricity bills during the voter registration process.

Authorities, including the Voter Registration Officer for the 203 Bhor Assembly Constituency and Sub-Divisional Officer Bhor, are actively encouraging the public to report any similar incidents. Residents are advised to contact the nearest Tehsil or Talathi Office and the local Police Station to ensure prompt action against fraudulent attempts to manipulate the voter registration system.
