In a disconcerting incident that unfolded this afternoon, a fire broke out in five coaches of Train No. 01402, traveling from New Ashti to Ahmednagar, along the stretch between Narayandoh to Ahmednagar. The alarming blaze was first reported at 15:00 hrs, engulfing the Guard-side brake van and four adjacent coaches.
The railway’s public relations department promptly reported that fire brigade units had arrived at the site to combat the blaze. The remarkable part of this incident is that, fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported. All passengers aboard the train managed to disembark safely before the fire could consume the affected coaches. To further ensure the safety of those involved, a Railway ART (Accident Relief Train) was dispatched from Daund to the site.
The swift and coordinated response to the fire included the deployment of a total of four fire brigades, which rushed to the scene to bring the situation under control. The extensive fire, which had ravaged all five coaches, was successfully extinguished by 16:10 hrs.
