Fire Incidents in Pune: Jewellery Shop in Wanawadi and Electric Transformer in Tulshi Baug Catch Fire

Pune, August 17, 2023: The city of Pune witnessed two minor fire incidents on Thursday morning, as a jewellery shop in Wanawadi and an electric transformer in Tulshi Baug were engulfed in flames. Fortunately, both incidents resulted in no casualties or injuries, as the prompt response of the fire brigade teams swiftly brought the fires under control.

In the first incident, reported at around 6:47 am in Wanawadi, a fire broke out at a local jewellery shop. The fire consumed furniture and POP (Plaster of Paris) material within the shop. Although the gold stored in the shop’s locker remained unaffected, other materials worth approximately Rs 35 lakh were lost to the flames, according to fire brigade officials.

The second incident occurred around 8:30 am in Tulshi Baug, where an electric transformer caught fire. Fire brigade and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) teams promptly rushed to the scene. The MSEDCL team swiftly disconnected the power supply to the transformer, enabling the fire brigade to bring the fire under control within a short span of time, as reported by a fire brigade official.

Authorities have attributed both fire incidents to short circuits. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in either incident, thanks to the rapid and efficient response of the fire brigade teams.
