In a startling revelation, an extensive collection of expired medicines and injections in the vicinity of Khadakwasla Dam has prompted serious concerns in the region. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), under the leadership of the Sharad Pawar group, has issued a demand for a comprehensive investigation into this matter, urging Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar to take stringent action against those responsible.
NCP’s urban cell president, Nitin Kadam, conveyed these pressing concerns to Commissioner Vikram Kumar. Despite previous concerns raised by the Municipal Corporation about polluted water being released into the dam from villages in the Khadakwasla dam area, no substantial action had been taken to address this issue.
The recent discovery of a stockpile of expired medicines in the catchment area has escalated into a significant public health issue, impacting the well-being of city residents. The Municipal Administration is urged to address this matter with the utmost seriousness and take appropriate measures against those involved in this wrongdoing.
Furthermore, Kadam stressed the immediate need for water testing in the dam and all water purification centers. He also called for the deployment of security personnel where necessary to ensure the safety and quality of the water supply.
