Eternal Light: Pune’s Dawn Procession Commemorates Sadhu Vaswani’s Legacy

Pune, 16th January 2024: The Sadhu Vaswani Mission in Pune resonates with spiritual fervor as devotees gather to commemorate the 58th Varsi (death anniversary) of Sadhu Vaswani. The two-day program, spanning January 16th and 17th, 2024, encompasses prayer, reflection, and homage to the revered saint.

Dawn Procession – Prabhat Pheri: The solemn proceedings commenced with the Prabhat Pheri, a dawn procession, at 5:30 am on January 16th. Led by Didi Krishna Kumari, Executive Head of the Mission, the procession wound through the streets of Pune Camp area. Devotees sought blessings at the sacred samadhis of Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J.P Vaswani, accompanied by the melodious chants of bhajans and kirtans. St. Mira’s Secondary School students actively participated, and housing societies adorned pedestals dedicated to the revered Gurus. Indrayani Karche, Asst Commissioner of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and PMC officials paid tribute by placing a wreath at the Sadhu Vaswani Chowk.

Emotional Expressions: Devotees shared their profound experiences during the Prabhat Pheri. Renu Wadhwa expressed, “The energy from that realm of light comes.” Another devotee added, “You can feel the blessings; it is very motivating.”

Two-Day Program Highlights: The commemorative program included prayer sessions, satsangs, recorded talks of Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J.P. Vaswani, and live talks by Didi Krishna. Events on January 17th will feature the Deepak Yatra and a theatrical play depicting the life and teachings of Sadhu Vaswani. Fellowship meals and extensive sevas were integral components of the program.

About Sadhu Vaswani: A visionary saint of modern India, Sadhu Vaswani championed women empowerment, value-based education, and the unity of all religions. A close ally of Mahatma Gandhi, he initiated the ‘Sakhi Satsang’ in 1929, focusing on women’s spiritual upliftment. In 1933, he founded a girl’s school as part of the ‘Mira Movement in Education,’ which now boasts 18 schools and colleges, emphasizing character-building education.

In a blend of mourning and celebration, Pune pays tribute to Sadhu Vaswani, a luminary whose teachings continue to inspire generations.
