Enhanced Passenger Comfort: Pune Airport Set to Introduce Five Lounges in New Terminal Building

AAI Aims to Elevate Travel Experience with Improved Services and Facilities

Amidst growing concerns over the limited lounge facilities at the current terminal building of Pune Airport, travelers can anticipate a significant upgrade with the impending inauguration of the new terminal building, set to house a total of five lounges. Santosh Dhoke, Director of Pune Airport, announced on Wednesday that the commencement of operations at the new facility is pending regulatory approval.

The new terminal, constructed at a cost of Rs 475 crore, promises to revolutionize passenger experience with its enhanced amenities and services. According to Dhoke, the new building will feature three spacious lounges for domestic passengers and two lounges catering to international travelers. These lounges have been designed to offer a superior experience, comparable to those provided at major airports like Delhi and Mumbai.

In addition to the lounge facilities, the new terminal will boast a range of improvements aimed at optimizing passenger comfort and convenience. This includes an increased number of food and beverage outlets, additional washrooms, expanded baggage reclaim areas, and enhanced accessibility with more passenger lifts and escalators. Notably, the terminal will accommodate 12-15 new food outlets, including renowned international chains, across a combined area of 831.1 square meters.

Airport authorities have also prioritized the retail experience for passengers, with plans to introduce 12-15 retail outlets offering a diverse array of products. Dhoke confirmed that efforts are underway to ensure the presence of multinational brands within these outlets, further enhancing the shopping experience for travelers.

The initiative to enhance airport facilities comes in response to recent complaints from passengers regarding the inadequacy of the existing lounge at Pune Airport’s current terminal. Criticisms have centered around its limited space, congestion, and subpar services. With the upcoming inauguration of the new terminal building and the introduction of five lounges, airport authorities aim to address these concerns and elevate the overall travel experience for passengers.
