16th August 2023, Pune: In a welcome development aimed at strengthening connectivity between two major Indian cities, Pune and Belagavi, Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi has unveiled plans for the revival of flight services. After a hiatus spanning several months, the Delhi-Belagavi and Pune-Belagavi flight routes are all set to take off once again, thanks to the concerted efforts of two prominent airlines.
MP Kadadi took to Twitter to share the promising news with the public. He announced that Star Air is gearing up to commence daily flight operations between Pune and Belagavi from October 29. Subsequently, IndiGo Airlines will join the endeavor, launching flights three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, starting from October 31.
Aviation expert Dhairyashil Vandekar, who also serves as the President of the Vithalrao Vandekar Foundation, warmly welcomed this decision. He emphasized the substantial benefits that the resumption of Pune-Belagavi flights will bring. Notably, these flights were discontinued under the regional connectivity scheme ‘Udaan’ a year ago. Vandekar underscored that the renewed air link will prove particularly advantageous for individuals in sectors like IT and business, fostering more convenient travel options. Furthermore, Vandekar highlighted the importance of establishing air connectivity between Pune and Nashik, urging for similar initiatives to be explored in the future.
The reintroduction of flight services between Pune and Belagavi not only promises enhanced travel convenience but also holds the potential to boost economic activities between these two thriving cities.
