Eco-Friendly Travel Options Multiply: MSRTC Adds 8 Electric Buses on Pune-Kolhapur Route

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is taking strides in enhancing its electric bus services by extending the connectivity of the popular ‘Shivai’ E-buses from Pune to Kolhapur. While the E-buses are yet to commence operations between Pune and Kolhapur, officials have confirmed that four buses from the Pune division and another four from the Kolhapur division have been deployed on this route starting today. Travelers can avail of these electric bus services, which will depart from the Swargate Bus Stand, and bookings can be made on-site, as per the officials.

The move is expected to significantly enhance the commuting experience for MSRTC passengers traveling between Pune and Kolhapur. The air-conditioned electric buses, known as ‘Shivai,’ offer various amenities that were not previously available on the older MSRTC buses. Additionally, these electric buses operate quietly due to their electric propulsion, aligning with MSRTC’s green initiative to gradually shift towards eco-friendly modes of transportation.

It’s worth noting that the introduction of the ‘Shivai’ E-buses on the Pune-Kolhapur route complements the MSRTC’s earlier initiatives, such as the launch of similar electric bus services between Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, as well as Pune and Nashik. The expansion of electric bus services not only contributes to a more sustainable future but also enhances the comfort and convenience of travelers along these routes.
