In an extraordinary display of talent and determination, Tavish Pahwa from Haryana achieved a memorable double crown victory by clinching the boy’s singles title at the EMMTC – MSLTA organized Junior National Tennis Tournament for under 14. This prestigious event was conducted under the auspices of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) and was held at the EMMTC Tennis complex in Aurangabad.
The third-seeded Savitha Bhuwaneswran from Tamil Nadu claimed the girl’s singles title in a thrilling contest.
In the finals, Tavish, who had already secured the doubles title the previous day, added the singles championship to his accolades. The 8th standard student of Shiv Nadar School, who hones his skills at the Accelerate Tennis Academy under the guidance of coach Todd Clark, achieved this feat by upsetting the top-seeded Hruthik Katakam from Telangana with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-3.
On the girls’ side, Savitha, a 10th standard student of St. Mary’s Matric Girls Secondary High School, who practices at the Periyar Nagar Tennis Centre under coach Saravanan Anand, halted the winning streak of Parthsarthi Mundhe from Solapur, Maharashtra. She triumphed with a hard-fought victory of 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
The winners and runners-up in the singles categories were awarded trophies and certificates in a ceremony graced by Mr. Sunder Iyer, the Honorary Secretary of MSLTA, and Mr. Sanjay Dutta, the Vice President of Endurance Technologies.
