Diwali Shopping Frenzy Hits Pune: Laxmi Road, Tulshibaug, Mandai in the Spotlight

Pune, 5th November 2023: With Diwali just around the corner, Pune residents seized the opportunity on the final Sunday before the festival, resulting in bustling streets and a shopping frenzy in the Lakshmi Road, Tulshibaug, and Mandai areas. The shopping rush led to traffic disruptions, particularly on Bajirao Road and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road, causing extensive traffic jams.

Throughout Sunday morning, clothing stores on Lakshmi Road, RB Kumthekar Road, Tilak Road, and the Phadke Haud area were inundated with enthusiastic shoppers. The electronic market also witnessed a significant surge in visitors. Citizens also gathered in the Bohri Aali area of Raviwar Peth to purchase decorative materials, even though the narrow roads posed challenges for pedestrians.

Many shoppers chose to visit stores in family cars to ease the transportation of their purchased goods. However, parked vehicles lining the city’s roads added to the congestion, especially along the riverbed, affecting traffic on NC Kelkar Road. To manage the situation, authorities implemented one-way traffic measures in certain areas to alleviate the congestion.

Shops selling electrical goods near Shree Pasodya Vitthal Mandir Sansthan in Budhwar Peth added to the festive atmosphere by adorning their stores with colorful lights to attract customers. The demand for decorative items also skyrocketed, leading to a bustling and vibrant market. While the police implemented traffic management measures, the substantial influx of shoppers contributed to the lively Diwali shopping scene.
