Deputy CM Ajit Pawar Inaugurates Uruli Kanchan Police Station, Pledges Support for Robust Policing

Pune, 20th January 2024: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, emphasizing the government’s dedication to fortifying the police department for enhanced law enforcement and public safety. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent officials, including MLA Ashok Pawar, Special Inspector General of Police (Kolhapur range) Sunil Phulari, and District Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal.

During the event, Deputy CM Pawar announced the approval of 100 new posts for the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, demonstrating the commitment to bolstering the force. He assured financial support from the District Annual Plan Fund for essential infrastructure development, encompassing vehicles, modern systems, and housing projects.

Deputy CM Pawar stressed the importance of officers’ well-being and advocated for training in modern technology to effectively combat cybercrimes. He urged the police force to refrain from glorifying criminals and emphasized the need for vigilant measures against criminal activities. Pawar underscored the importance of operating without external pressures and encouraged a modern, community-oriented approach to policing.

Acknowledging the population growth in Uruli Kanchan village, Pawar addressed citizen demands for a municipal council, promising to address traffic congestion on the Pune-Solapur highway passing through the village.

MLA Pawar highlighted the three-year effort to establish the police station, catering to the needs of the growing population in Uruli Kanchan. Additional initiatives, including an approved Additional Tehsil Office and demands for a municipal council and rural hospital, were also discussed. Efforts to alleviate traffic congestion and advance the village’s development were pledged.

In his introduction, SP Goyal shared the historical context of the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, detailing its evolution from an old police post to a fully-fledged station. He outlined the station’s jurisdiction over ten villages and expressed a commitment to resolving traffic issues and controlling crime in the region.
