Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to Expedite Hinjewadi Substation Project in Pune

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently addressed the Legislative Assembly, emphasizing the need to accelerate the completion of the substation at Hinjewadi in Pune district. With urbanization on the rise in the region, the establishment of this substation holds significant importance in meeting the growing energy demands. In response to a query raised by Member Rahul Kul about the closure of the 400 KV substation constructed by Mahapareshan Company, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis clarified the current status of the project and outlined the steps being taken to ensure its successful implementation.

Background:

Hinjewadi, located in Pune district, has witnessed rapid urban development in recent years, resulting in an increased demand for electricity. To cater to this rising energy requirement and enhance the power infrastructure, the construction of a substation was initiated by Mahapareshan Company.

Debunking Closure Rumors:

During the Legislative Assembly session, Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis dismissed the rumors surrounding the closure of the 400 KV substation at Hinjewadi. He stated that the substation remains operational and functional. Furthermore, efforts are underway to enhance its capacity by introducing six more ultra-high pressure sub-central banks. These additions will bolster the substation’s capability to meet the escalating energy needs of the region.

Obstacles and Solutions:

While the substation project has been progressing, certain hurdles, particularly related to environmental clearances from the forest department for affiliated channels, have caused delays. However, the government has taken proactive measures to address these challenges. A comprehensive policy has been formulated to address compensation for the land occupied by the towers required for the transmission of extra high voltage lines exceeding 66 KV and the land located along the path of the extra high voltage transmission line.

Enhanced Compensation for Affected Landowners:

Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis assured that the revised policy prioritizes the welfare of affected farmers and landholders. Under this updated framework, increased compensation is being provided to those whose land has been impacted by the substation project. This move aims to ensure fair and just compensation, alleviating any concerns and encouraging cooperation from the local communities.

The completion of the substation at Hinjewadi is a critical step in meeting the energy demands of the rapidly urbanizing Pune district. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ commitment to expediting the project and addressing challenges head-on reflects the government’s dedication to providing reliable and sustainable power infrastructure. As the project nears completion, it is expected to pave the way for further development in the region while ensuring equitable compensation for those affected by the necessary infrastructure expansion.
