Congress Urges Pune Authorities to Crack Down on Overcharging Luxury Buses

Pune – The festive season has brought not only joy but also a surge in complaints against private luxury bus operators who are consistently overcharging passengers, causing significant inconveniences to commuters. In response to this pressing issue, the Regional Transport Office Pune (RTO Pune) and Pune Traffic Police are being urged to take immediate action by deploying additional inspection teams to monitor and regulate the operations of these private luxury buses.

The Congress party, a prominent voice in this matter, is demanding strict actions against those who violate the rules. They have directed their appeal to Regional Transport Officer Sanjeev Bhor. Senior leader Mohan Joshi has been instrumental in presenting these concerns on behalf of the Congress party.

The urgency for enhanced inspections is underscored by the increasing number of accidents involving private buses on the Samriddhi Express Highway, resulting in casualties and posing serious safety risks. The RTO stresses the need for a robust inspection process during the festive season to curtail exploitative practices and safeguard the rights of passengers. Such measures are expected to not only discourage bus operators from overcharging but also enable authorities to effectively monitor the speed and safety standards of private luxury buses.

Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Regional Transport Officer-in-Charge Sanjeev Bhor has accepted the letter presented by senior leader Mohan Joshi and Ramesh Bagwe.
