Chaos Erupts at Pune Airport: DigiYatra Glitch Leaves Passengers Stranded

The Pune airport witnessed scenes of chaos and frustration as a glitch in the DigiYatra facility, combined with increased passenger traffic and stringent security measures, led to a weekend of turmoil for travelers in the lead-up to Independence Day.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the long weekend, a surge in the number of passengers and the technical glitch in the DigiYatra system culminated in a chaotic situation at Pune airport. Frustration boiled over among travelers who found themselves stuck in long check-in queues due to the malfunctioning digital travel platform.

Expressing his dismay, a stranded passenger took to Twitter. Sathiyamoorthi, in his tweet, questioned the purpose of having the DigiYatra facility at Pune airport if it was not functioning effectively. He raised concerns about passengers relying on the system only to face inconvenience upon arrival. Furthermore, he highlighted the lack of responsiveness from airport authorities when he attempted to seek assistance.

According to available information, the DigiYatra malfunction created a bottleneck in the check-in process, exacerbating the challenges posed by the already increased number of travelers. On Sunday, 13th August, Pune airport witnessed its highest daily flight count, with a total of 98 flights departing and 98 arriving. This surge in activity overwhelmed the facilities of the relatively smaller airport, leading to significant footfall.

A senior official from Pune airport, speaking on the condition of anonymity, acknowledged the technical issues with the DigiYatra system. The official attributed the malfunction to the combination of high passenger traffic and technical problems. However, airport officials are committed to resolving the issue promptly to restore smooth operations and alleviate the inconvenience faced by passengers.
