Central Railway Achieves Ticket Checking Revenue of Rs 94.04 Crore in Apr-June 2023

Central Railway has taken robust measures to conduct extensive ticket checking operations in Suburban, Mail Express, Passenger services, and special trains across all divisions. The primary aim of these efforts is to curb ticketless and irregular travel, ensuring comfortable journeys and enhanced services for all genuine rail passengers. Senior officers are actively monitoring revenue losses resulting from ticketless travel and other irregularities.

In the ongoing financial year 2022-23, specifically from April to June 2023, a significant number of instances of ticketless/irregular travel and un-booked luggage were detected. In June 2023 alone, a total of 13.39 lakh cases of such infractions were identified. As a result of these diligent ticket checking efforts, the revenue collected from 4.10 lakh cases of irregular/ticketless travel and unbooked luggage amounted to ₹27.70 Crore in June.

In the cumulative period from April to June 2023, the revenue realized from ticketless/irregular travel reached an impressive ₹94.04 crore, surpassing the proportionate target by 41.42%. This substantial increase in revenue highlights the effectiveness of the ticket checking operations undertaken by Central Railway and demonstrates the division’s commitment to deterring ticketless and irregular travel.
