Celebrating Musical Heritage: 18th Edition of Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav Set for Pune

The vibrant city of Pune is gearing up to host the much-anticipated 18th Edition of the Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav, a cultural extravaganza celebrating the rich heritage of Indian classical music. Organized by Tarangini Sanskritik Pratishthan and Apla Parisar, the festival promises three days of mesmerizing performances, captivating audiences with a stellar lineup of legendary artists and promising young talents.

The inauguration ceremony, scheduled for Friday, March 29th, at 5:30 pm, will be graced by the esteemed presence of Renowned Scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, alongside Murlidhar Mohol, former Mayor of Pune City. This auspicious occasion marks the commencement of an unforgettable musical journey, with sessions scheduled from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm on subsequent days.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Ujwal Keskar of Apla Parisar expressed reverence for Pt. Jitendra Abhishiki’s enduring legacy, emphasizing the festival’s mission to preserve and propagate his musical brilliance. The event, now in its 18th year, stands as a testament to Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki’s profound influence on Indian classical music.

The festival also serves as a platform to honor exemplary contributions to the world of music. This year, Pt. Suhas Vyas will be bestowed with the prestigious ‘Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar,’ while the esteemed ‘Pratithayash Gayika Puraskar’ will be conferred upon the renowned singer Sania Patankar.

In addition to recognizing stalwarts of classical music, the festival celebrates the emergence of young talent through its ‘Yuvonmesh’ sessions. Day two and three will feature promising artists, including vocal performances by Yash Kolhapure and Bhagyesh Marathe, as well as instrumental renditions by Nitish Purohit and Savani Talwalkar, among others.

The evening sessions promise to enchant audiences with captivating performances by esteemed artists. Day two will feature vocal renditions by Sangeetcharya Pt. Mohan Darekar and Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, while day three will showcase mesmerizing performances by Vidushi Sangeeta Shankar and Pt. Ajay Pohankar.

As the curtains draw on the three-day extravaganza, the Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav will culminate in a grand finale, featuring a Kathak recital by Manali Deo and a soul-stirring performance by Pt. Ajay Pohankar of the Kirana Gharana.

With Ravindra Khare as the compere, the festival promises to captivate audiences with its melodic offerings, celebrating the timeless allure of Indian classical music.
