Breaking Barriers: Pune’s Everest Expedition and the Power of Diversity

In a testament to the spirit of adventure and resilience, a group of 19 residents from Pune, predominantly hailing from Kondhwa, achieved a remarkable feat by conquering Everest Base Camp. Led by the seasoned trekking veteran, Captain Mustafa Battiwala, with 38 years of trekking experience, the team embarked on this challenging journey, showcasing both determination and expertise.

The expedition commenced on October 2nd and concluded on October 14th, with the Everest Base Camp standing tall at an imposing height of 17,600 feet.

Diverse in Age, United in Spirit

What makes this achievement even more extraordinary is the age diversity within the group. The youngest member, Amatullah Palitanawala, aged 24, and the oldest, Shabbir Tawawala, an impressive 70 years old, proved that age is no barrier when it comes to pursuing one’s dreams and conquering challenging terrains.

Mustafa Battiwala, the captain leading the charge, expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment. He stated, “Our team of 19 people completed the tough EVEREST BASE CAMP trek in the month of October under the leadership of Mustafa Battiwala. Most of the members were above the age of 55 years. Everyone had trained hard and could comfortably manage the task. Most of the members were from the Kondhwa region.”

Dedication and Diversity in the Team

The roster of triumphant trekkers includes a mix of names, each contributing to the success of the expedition. Mustafa Battiwala, Hussain Dhariwala, Khizer Lokhandwala, Huzefa Hakimi, Shabbir Tawawala, Faiyaaz Lakdawala, Samar Sarda, Aliasgar Polan, Shabbir Choonawala, Murtuza Dhariwala, Hatim Raja, Qusai Ezzi, Munira Lokhandwala, Ummaima Palitanawala, Farida Nagarwala, Rashida Qutbi, Siddhi Dube, Lubaina Palitanawala, and Amatullah Palitanawala—all united by their shared determination to conquer the Everest Base Camp.
