Blooming Extravaganza: Empress Garden Gears Up for Flower Show 2024, Promising Floral Delights

Pune: The lush green surroundings of Empress Garden are set to transform into a floral haven as the Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India prepares to host the Flower Show 2024. Managed by the society since 1890, Empress Garden has become the canvas for vibrant displays of flowers and creative arrangements, attracting visitors from all walks of life.

In its mission to promote awareness and strengthen the bond between people and nature, the Agri-Horticultural Society organizes various social events, with the annual flower show being a highlight. The event, scheduled from January 25 to 28, is not just a showcase of blooming beauty but also a platform for engaging activities and competitions.

Over 850 students recently participated in a mega drawing competition held on the garden premises, reflecting the society’s commitment to nurturing the bond between children and nature. The flower show, once considered a recreation for a specific class, has evolved over the years to embrace a broader audience, with competitions spanning creative flower arrangements, roses, vegetable displays, and flower bed decorations.

Garden enthusiasts are encouraged to participate by displaying flowers from their personal gardens, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for nature’s beauty. Nursery owners from Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Nashik, and even Andhra Pradesh converge at Empress Garden, adding diversity to the exhibits.

Children take center stage in art and handwriting competitions during the event, attracting over 1,000 participants from various schools. This year’s competitions are scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2024. The Flower Show promises a visual feast with a special focus on Japanese-style IKEBANA flower arrangements and an array of Bonsai trees.

The grand inauguration on January 25, 2024, at 12 pm will be conducted by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijaykumar Magar, setting the stage for a four-day spectacle. The Flower Show will remain open to the public until 7.30 pm on January 25 and from 9 am to 7.30 pm on January 26, 27, and 28.
