Bharat Flag Foundation Raises Alarm Over Chinese-Manufactured Flags in Pune

Pune: The Bharat Flag Foundation, a Pune-based organization dedicated to upholding the honor and sanctity of the Indian national flag, has sounded the alarm about the use of flags produced in China. The foundation has strongly advocated for a complete ban on the usage of such Chinese-made flags and is determined to preserve the integrity of the national symbol.

As India prepares to celebrate its 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2023, plans are in motion to distribute tricolor flags to every household as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (Flag in Every Home) initiative. This patriotic endeavor aims to foster a sense of unity and pride among citizens. However, Girish Murudkar, the Founder President of the Bharat Flag Foundation, along with Executive President Rahul Bhalerao, has voiced concerns about the use of flags produced in China.

Flag production in India is an intricate process that involves a multitude of artisans, underprivileged families, and small-scale factories. Women from self-help groups also play an active role in this industry. The surge of Chinese-made flags flooding the market poses a significant threat to these local enterprises. The foundation is concerned that this influx could undermine the livelihoods of those involved in flag production within India.

Numerous local governing bodies and social organizations are participating in the noble cause of distributing free flags to instill a sense of patriotism. However, the Bharat Flag Foundation emphasizes that it is imperative for these initiatives to ensure that the flags they distribute are not sourced from China.

In a bid to raise awareness about the Indian Flag Code and promote responsible flag usage, the Bharat Flag Foundation has initiated the ‘Murudkar Zendewale’ campaign. As part of this initiative, the foundation is distributing pamphlets that contain comprehensive guidelines and information regarding the respectful handling of the national flag. To further their cause, the foundation is also introducing free collection boxes for used flags.

In an earnest appeal to the citizens of Pune and beyond, the Bharat Flag Foundation implores everyone to uphold the spirit of Independence Day by refraining from using flags manufactured in China. By supporting local flag manufacturers and adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Indian Flag Code, citizens can contribute to preserving the sanctity and dignity of the national flag—a symbol of unity, pride, and sovereignty.
