Beyond Comedy: The Dark Side of Impersonation in Pune’s Recent Harassment Case

In a shocking turn of events in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, a 27-year-old woman found herself at the center of a distressing incident on Wednesday (23rd). False claims of being Indian comedian Kapil Sharma led to a series of calls, eventually resulting in molestation. Yerawada Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

The victim, a resident of an upscale society in Kalyani Nagar, was targeted during her work hours with a barrage of ten calls. The impersonator, posing as Kapil Sharma, mentioned an alleged meeting at an Oyo Hotel and asked about an individual named Dipak.

Swiftly reacting to the distressing calls, the woman informed her husband, who took charge of the situation by confronting the caller. However, the situation escalated when the impersonator not only made inappropriate comments about the woman but also hurled abusive language at the husband, targeting his mother and sister.

Yerawada Police have officially registered the case and are now focused on identifying the individual behind the unknown mobile number who falsely posed as Kapil Sharma. The investigation aims to unravel the motive behind the harassment and bring the perpetrator to justice.

As authorities delve deeper into the case, it raises concerns about the misuse of technology and the vulnerability of individuals to such impersonation and harassment. The incident underscores the need for increased vigilance and awareness regarding cybersecurity.
