Alandi Mourns Loss: Youth’s Suicide Note Puts Spotlight on Maratha Reservation Issue

Alandi : A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Alandi, as a 22-year-old youth tragically ended his life, leaving behind a poignant note addressing the pressing issue of Maratha reservation.

The young man, Siddhesh Satyawan Barge, a resident of Chimbli in Alandi, took his own life on a fateful Friday night inside his gas shop, located just in front of his home.

Siddhesh’s absence raised alarm bells, prompting his concerned brother, Suyash, to search for him. What he discovered was a devastating sight – Siddhesh had taken his own life by hanging inside the shop. Distraught by the discovery, the family promptly alerted the police. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and rushed Siddhesh to Rural Hospital, Alandi, but it was a futile effort, as he was declared brought dead.

Alandi Police’s investigation uncovered a note that Siddhesh had left behind, bearing a somber message. It read, “I have given my life, not because of anyone, but due to the government’s functioning. Maratha reservation must be granted. I am taking this step for the sake of my Maratha brothers.”

This tragic incident marks the second such case within the region in the past fifteen days. An earlier incident involved the former Sarpanch of Latur, Venkat Narsingh Dhopre, who also took his own life by jumping into the Indrayani river.
