Pune: The Poona Club Golf League 2024 witnessed intense bidding action as Akash Nakhare, Aditya Garg, Avinash Deoskar, and Jaanya Bisnoi emerged as the most expensive players at the Players Auction Day held recently. The event, set to take place at the Poona Club Golf Course, drew attention with its high-profile players and competitive bidding.
In a joint statement issued by President of Poona Club, Sunil Handa, Vice President Mr. Gaurav Gadhoke, Captain of the Golf Course Mr. Ikram Khan, and PGL 2024 Chairman Mr. Indraneel Mujgule, it was revealed that 16 teams will be participating in this year’s league.
A total of 316 players vied for a spot in the tournament, with the Auction Day providing team owners the opportunity to select their preferred golfers across three divisions – Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Each team had a notional amount of Rs. 2 crores to spend during the auction, resulting in fierce bidding wars, especially in the Gold division where over 90 players were selected. Ultimately, 240 players were drafted by the 16 participating teams.
