Pune: An aircraft involved in an accident has not been removed from the parking bay on the Pune International Airport. This has been causing issues to services on the airport. Many flights are delayed due to this. It is going to take another 25 days to shift the aircraft from the bay.

Minister of State for Civic Aviation Murlidhar Mohol is discussing the issue with top officials to shift the aeroplane temporarily to the Defence Ministry’s land.

The said flight met with an accident on May 16. It was hit by a luggage tractor trolley when it was being moved to the runway. Around 200 passengers were aboard when the accident happened. An alternative flight was arranged for them. Since then the aircraft has been in the parking bay. It is causing a hurdle to other flights and delaying them.

Minister Mohol said, “Services at the Pune Airport are hit by the aircraft in the parking bay. This has been inconveniencing passengers. The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has permitted its repairs. A technical team has also arrived to check the aircraft. It is being repaired. The process will last for another 25 days. Hence, efforts are underway to shift it to the Defence Ministry’s land.

QUOTE

Efforts are underway to shift the aircraft in the parking bay, which was involved in an accident last month, to the Defence Ministry’s space. I have written to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard. I will also meet him in Delhi. Once it is shifted from there, delays for other flights will be reduced.”
